Fluid Machine Thermodynamics
In our modern world in which energy issues are becoming increasingly significant, fluid machines are essential for industrial, social and personal use, since they allow to generate, transform, transport and exploit many forms of physical and chemical energy not directly available from natural sources.
Applications of fluid machines include heat generation, heat transfer, water transportation, distribution and management for domestic and industrial needs, and the transformation of mechanical and electric power by means of turbines, pumps, compressors, blowers and heat exchangers.
The new generation of technicians must acquire a deep knowledge of the principles and the characteristics of fluid machines. The principles of fluid mechanics, fluid power and heat transfer find their application in different types of fluid machines, which can employ pressurized or unpressurized fluids, such as water, air and oil, and use different energy sources, such as solar energy, electricity, coal, gas and other fuels.
The main topics to be treated in a training course on fluid machines are the following:
- Principles of fluid mechanics
- Principles of thermodynamics
- Fluid circuits, components and machines
- Thermodynamic systems, components and machines
- Maintenance and troubleshooting
